Review: Hyundai Ioniq Electric 2021

If you are looking for an electric family car that is cheap to run and nice to drive, then the Hyundai Ioniq Electric car lease could be for you.

This is a stylish zero-emissions offering from Hyundai and it is also a practical choice for families.

There's no doubt that the Hyundai Ioniq Electric looks like a modern car with some very nice styling ideas - it has a comfortable interior too.

Indeed, the cabin is near-silent, and the digital display is perhaps the only clue that this is an electric vehicle.

Contract hire Hyundai Ioniq Electric

The power for the contract hire Hyundai Ioniq Electric comes from the 38.3kWh battery that will deliver 194 miles of electric range.

That's a lot further than the model it replaced, but then the latest version of the Ioniq Electric is very different.

That battery-powered range will meet most family and commuter needs and this is done in a relaxing manner.

The battery will take six hours to recharge using a 7kWh wallbox to 80% of its capacity, though quick chargers can also be used.

While on the move, the Hyundai has made the car's electrical systems to be as efficient as possible to not drain the battery, including a specially-designed climate control system.

Battery for the Ioniq Electric

The motor and battery for the Ioniq Electric produces 134bhp and torque of 295Nm to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in less than 10 seconds.

It's not quite as sprightly as other EVs and it has a top speed of 103 mph, but this is a comfortable and enjoyable car to drive around town.

The Ioniq Electric is also a smooth motorway cruiser and is certainly worth considering for anybody wanting to lease an electric vehicle.

On winding country roads, the car always feels well planted and delivers good grip on tight corners to make it feel like a very safe car to drive.

Hyundai Ioniq Electric car lease

Inside the Hyundai Ioniq Electric car lease cabin, the designers have conjured up a comfortable and impressive place to spend time.

The dashboard is easy-to-use, the controls are within reach and there is some colour to brighten things up.

There's also good use of premium, soft touch materials though this is definitely a car designed to withstand robust family use.

Standard equipment includes a touchscreen infotainment system, satnav, a reversing camera and smartphone compatibility.

The top spec has cool and heated leather seats that have a memory function and there's plenty of space in the cabin for adults, including in the rear seats.

Boot size is practical

The driver enjoys good visibility of the road ahead and the boot size is a practical offering at 357 litres. With the rear seats folded flat, this expands to 1,417 litres.

The car also has five stars for safety from Euro NCAP and safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and blind-spot monitoring.

Essentially, when it comes to the Hyundai Ioniq Electric car lease, drivers will get to enjoy a practical and well-designed family car that delivers a rewarding drive and lots of equipment.
